Getting Ready

Be the host with the most.

The word is out: you can mix the perfect cocktail. So what do you do next? Throw the perfect cocktail party, of course. Here are some tips and ideas for making it every bit as good as the drinks you pour.

The clock is ticking.

Read this list. Read it again. Commit it to memory. Or, just print it out and keep a copy handy. When it comes to steering your way through a good party, consider this your roadmap.

Get the right mix of mixers.

Be sure to have on hand at least 3 liters of Schweppes Tonic Water, Schweppes Ginger Ale, and Schweppes Club Soda for every bottle of hard liquor, plus a little extra for non-alcoholic drinks.

Know your crowd.

Stock your bar according to your guests' tastes. Variety is key, but keep it simple and be sure to include non-alcoholic options.

More is better.

More food. More drinks. More ice. You can never have too much of any of it. Don't put all your food out at once, though; keep it coming throughout the night. And if you run out , order out.
