Snacks & Things
Food fit for a king. Or a king's cocktail party, anyway.
We've said it already: you can't have enough food. You can, however, have the wrong food. Here are a few thoughts about party food, and a few recipes to whet your appetite.
Be prepared.
Like a good scout, you should be ready for anything. In this case, be ready for a house full of hungry people. Get all the cooking out of the way early, so you can put on the dog later.
Keep it fresh.
Only serve foods that can stay fresh at room temperature over a long period of time. If it needs to be very cold or very hot to be any good, it won't be for very long. Chips and dips? Good. Banana sherbet? Bad.
Think small.
Give people a variety of different little noshes to choose from. Olives, pretzels, flatbread & hummus, finger sandwiches, and so on. Avoid things that require two hands, large plate, or sharp cutlery to eat.
